Bridal Make-Up for Mature Skin
Glowing, soft and still unmistakably you. How I approach wedding make-up for mature skin, from the months before to the moment you walk down the aisle.

Start With the Skin, Not the Make-Up
My approach to every bride is skin first, and it matters most of all with mature skin. Make-up sits best on skin that is hydrated and cared for, so the real work starts months before your wedding. Try a consistent skincare routine that suits your skin type, morning and night, for four to six months before the day. Hydration is what gives mature skin that glow from within, and it is what stops foundation settling where you do not want it.
Use an SPF 50 every day, whatever the weather. It protects against the UVA that ages skin and the UVB that causes dark spots, and it is never too late to start. On the morning itself your Glow Up package starts with a mini skin prep before anything else goes on, so the base has something smooth and plump to sit on.
Lighter Layers, Blended Into the Skin
The instinct is to cover more. With mature skin, less coverage almost always looks younger. I build foundation in thin layers only where it is needed, and I never rub it on. Pressing and blending it into the skin blurs texture instead of sitting on top of it, and it keeps the natural movement of your face.
Concealer is the same: a little, placed precisely, rather than a thick layer under the eyes that creases by the speeches. The aim is skin that still looks like skin, lit from within, in person and in close-up photographs.
Cream Products Over Powder
Heavy powder settles into fine lines and makes skin look flat. I lean on cream blush and cream highlighter, which melt into the skin and move with it, and I set only where you need it, usually the centre of the face, with a fine, light touch. You keep the glow and lose the shine.
Placement does a lot of quiet work. Blush sits a little higher on the cheek and blends up towards the temple, which gives the face a natural lift, and a soft glow on the high points of the cheek catches the light in every photograph.
Eyes and Brows That Lift
Brows frame the whole face, and they often thin over time. Groomed, filled and shaded softly, they instantly lift the eyes. I use matte or satin shades on the lid rather than heavy shimmer, which can emphasise texture, and define the lash line gently so the eyes look open rather than heavy.
Individual lashes are part of my Glow Up package, and they are ideal here: placed at the outer corners they lift the eye without the weight of a full strip, and they last all day.
A Lip That Lasts to the Last Dance
Lip liner is your best friend. Lined and filled in, a lip colour stays where it is put and does not bleed into fine lines around the mouth. A softly rosy or nude-pink shade, a touch deeper than your natural lip, looks fresh and flattering. Every bride of mine gets a complimentary lipstick on the day, so you can top up after the meal.
Your Consultation Is Where It Comes Together
The pre-wedding make-up consultation is where we get this right before the day: testing for any sensitivities, matching and correcting colour, and trialling your look until you feel completely yourself. Everything in my kit is vegan and cruelty-free. If you are planning your wedding and would like a skin-focused, natural look, you can find my packages and prices on my wedding make-up page, or get in touch to check my availability.
